In 1914, in the heart of the district that is most renowned for the production of Gorgonzola, Latteria di Cameri was established through the initiative of local farmers who wished to independently process the milk they produced.
The dairy currently has 19 members. They devote special care to the diet and health of the over 1,300 dairy cows raised on their farms, knowing that the finest cheeses can only be made from top-quality milk.
Each day around 37 tons of milk are collected and immediately processed, as the freshest milk has the best properties for cheese making.
The dairy produces exclusively artisan quality cheeses: Gorgonzola Dolce and Gorgonzola Piccante (respectively sweet and piquant blue cheeses) which account for over 90% of the plant’s output, other DOP cheeses Taleggio and Toma Piemontese, and the exclusive Blue Toma. The range also includes Nivellina, tasty little blocks of gorgonzola and mascarpone cheese, and the latest addition, our goat’s milk specialities, of which the flagship product is “Verdalpe”, a delicious blue-veined cheese made from goat’s milk.
